India 2009 Part 3 - Gulmarg and a local market in Kashmir

The next day, we went to Gulmarg (Meadow of Flowers). It's a 2-hr car ride with a 5-min toilet break from the houseboats.

Food and sundries are transported up using an open air lift. These huts are used for 6 months by 'gypsies' / nomads looking after their herds.

These huts are quite colourful. But they are always buried by the snow during winter, which is why they are only in use half of the year.

We were told that wild animal roam the hills, these are animal tracks.... snow leopard's

Snow!!!!

Panoramic photo.

Skiing area for beginners.

The long & winding road back down was scarier than going up. We were travelling quite fast too. The bends didn't deter the speed "Exciting" ride downhill...

We saw many local houses on the way back to the house boat but we were brought to visit the local market first..

Yes, there's internet in Kashmir.
